- Treatment Frequency
How often should you get acupuncture?
The answer to this question varies from person to person, and changes in care depends on the stage of treatment you are in.
Treatment Phases:
Symptomatic Care
During this stage, treatments are designed to alleviate the symptoms that caused you to seek treatment, or to address acute flare ups related to a pre-existing condition. We will move on to the next phase once those symptoms are relieved.
Corrective Care
The second treatment phase focuses on restoring vibrant health, rather than simply addressing the symptoms. We must determine the underlying cause of your illness/dis-ease, so this stage is designed to get to the root cause of your heath concern. Our goal is to restore balance and dissipate lingering signs or symptoms from any conditions whose acute symptoms are mostly resolved. Upon completion of this phase we will have set the stage for healthy living.
Prophylactic Care
Maintenance Therapy is the final phase of treatment. We strive to get every patient to the Maintenance Phase as soon as possible. It will look different for each patient depending on your condition at the start of treatment. Your overall health, constitution, age, diet, activity level (exercise), in addition to mental and emotional responses to life stressors and expectations, can all play a role and present challenging limitations. This phase is ongoing as it paves the way for major improvements in the quality of your health and wellness, and it prevents relapses. It is also the reward for making a commitment to the healing process during the Symptomatic and Corrective Phases.
Remember: Acupuncture treatments are most effective when they are simple, frequent and regular. This point cannot be overemphasized: Getting the desired results depends on you coming often enough to help your body heal. We need you to commit to the treatment process in order to get good results.
